Five individuals had the experience of a lifetime at the Styx, Foreigner and Don Felder concert that took place at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion May 18.
The Pavilion held a fundraising gala earlier in the year (on Feb. 8) where rock ‘n’ roll legends Foreigner performed. At the gala, there were numerous items guests could bid on. The most popular item was the “Ultimate Backstage Experience” package. The package included a backstage experience during the Styx and Foreigner concert at The Pavilion. Cindy Gremp, the winner of the package, gave it to her daughter Leslie who was able to invite four friends to join her for the experience this past week.
The package included access to their own backstage dressing room stocked with whatever food or drinks they requested, access to the backstage catering room, free Styx or Foreigner merchandise, front row seats during the show and a meet and greet with Foreigner.
Leslie Gremp, Noah Cass, Kathleen Murphy, Diana Johnson and Alex Murphy described the experience as “one of the best days of their lives.” Four out of five of them grew up in The Woodlands/Houston area and have attended The Pavilion for many concerts in the past.
“We were just at The Pavilion two days ago for Dave Matthews Band and we sat on the lawn. Now we’re backstage for Foreigner and Styx and it seems unreal,” Murphy said.
Thanks in part to the “Ultimate Backstage Experience” package, more than $208,000 was raised from the items in the auction at The Pavilion’s gala. Those funds benefit The Pavilion’s performing arts events, educational outreach programs and The Pavilion Partners Fine Arts Scholarship Fund.
“I couldn’t be more excited to be here,” Cass said. “Anyone who has ever been into rock ‘n’ roll knows who Foreigner is. They’re just iconic rock and I can’t wait to meet them and watch them play live.”
Don Felder, Foreigner and Styx gave concert goers at The Pavilion a great classic rock show and left them with unforgettable memories, especially for Gremp and her friends.
